I use spare servo control arms - they seem to be everywhere in my garage - and I simply cut slits in the side of the fuse and anchor the arms with med foam safe ca. To minimize bending of the rudder and elev control rods, I recommend one or two guides. Less important, if you feel the need you can run a joiner piece to better unitize the elevator - a number of techniques appear earlier in this thread. Stiffen the rudder with a length of flat carbon from the control horn diagonally up to near the rudder edge. First, don't even try to make the elev pull-pull system work instead just go with a single carbon rod - same for the rudder.

My Reaktor weighs in at 340g, so plenty of power.Īnd lastly, a couple of build tips. I paired the motor with a 9 x 4.7 gemfan and a 3s 800mah batt which pretty much maxes it out at 13a, 712g thrust, and 130 degF after a 10sec static run. I've been testing a few of these RCX H motors and find them to be exceptional for the price. I think it just lacks the floatiness for good inside flight.Īnd, having taken that position, I believe the plane really needs a bit more motor than the specs call for, so I settled on the 40g.

My crutch of choice is 5-min epoxy - yeah I know it's heavy but it is also easy and allows ample time to make sure everything is right before curing and, besides I'm not addressing the gram counters who strive for precision airframes!Īlso, I believe the Reaktor is a perfect first step up for beginners - just dial back travel and dial in expo, and install the provided landing gear for those who may not be ready for hand launches.Īs for the ongoing inside/outside debate, I tend to side with those who consider it to be primarily an outside plane. This thing is really easy to repair so much so, that it is hard for me to imagine any damage that would not be repairable. Now, this information is likely not much use to those of you who CAN fly, but I'm bringing it up for the newbies who are just learning or thinking about learning to fly. Now the front motor mount is totally flush and accepts a wider variety of X-mounts for trying out different power options. So, I took the opportunity to cut off the other two and trim back the upper and lower horizontal pieces of ply. I've only had mine a month or so, and owing to my lack of any flying ability whatsoever it has augured in - ripped the fuselage, cartwheeled in (twice!) - ripped the wing (twice!!), and survived a very hard nose-in on pavement - broke two of the four EPP protrusions surrounding the motor mount. A bit quiet lately, but I just wanted to chime in with my experience.
